Come and hear dark tales from storyteller Irene Lofthouse as she brings to life stories from her new book for children “Strange Tales in the Dales” and forthcoming 'Strange Tales in Bradford Dale."

Inspiring KS1/2 Local History

"Strange Tales in Your Dale" bringing KS1/2 history to life

 

Irene can provide inspiring and exciting storytelling, creative projects to enhance your KS1/2 Prehistory topics, with focussed 'Strange Tales in Your Dale' workshops.

 

As an experienced creative facilitator, actor and heritage researcher has developed workshops that explore local areas from prehistory to present day through it history, heritage, myths, legends and people.

 

  • 'Strange Tales in Your Dale' is a half-day workshop which includes an hour's participative storytelling with a character from the past of your area and an hour of related creative activities at your school to develop art skills and learn about our ancestors

 

  • 'Strange Tales in Bradford Dale' can be an hour or half-day workshop where Irene shares stories inspired by the landscape, legends and architecture of her home city with artefacts to explore followed by art and creative activities related to local myths.

 

  • 'Strange Tales in the Dales' can be an hour or half-day workshop where Irene shares stories inspired by the landscape, legends myths of Swaledale and Wensleydale. This can be followed by art and creative activities related to local history, people and places.


 

Each of the workshops are designed to be participative and to develop literacy, oracy, enquiry, creativity and curiosity.

 

Workshops are available to schools Mondays to Fridays.

Dates are negotiable for other organisations, festivals and events.
